Goth Costumes – More Than Just Halloween

Halloween is the signature holiday of goth costumes. It is a day in which being gothic is considered normal and fun.
Goth subculture and Halloween are so closely related because of their dark, morbid and mysterious nature. The holiday celebrates the mystical, ghostly underworld so many of the costumes represent a dead figure.
Besides Halloween, these outfits can be worn at theme parties or to spook your friends and family. These costumes are always elaborate and often come with lots of accessories to take morbid curiosity to the next level.
Females have a wealth of options available to them. They can choose from Victorian style costumes like a vampiress, widow, countess and sorceress.
Fun costumes such as dead rag dolls, witches, geishas, gothic fairies, zombie cheerleaders, pirates and the dead girl scouts are classics. Then there are a wide range of sexy costumes which are commonly skimpy nurse, french maid and schoolgirl uniforms along with female cop outfits.
Most costumes for females are either dresses or have some type of skirt included. Generally, skirts are worn with black and white striped stockings.
For men, goth costumes are typically a gangster look or Victorian in style. Vampire costumes are the most commonly used type.
Other popular kinds for men are warlocks, phantoms, beasts, zombies, executioners, pirates, 1920s gangsters and the midnight stalker. Most male costumes have robes, capes, cloaks and coats.
A huge variety of accessories are available to complete the perfect gothic look. Costume wigs range from fiber optic to rubber styles.
Top hats, oversize hats and tiny hats are a great accent to any look. Other accessories include false teeth, stage blood, prosthetics, angel and devil wings, pitch forks, swords, moustaches, sickles, canes and go-go boots.
Goth costumes usually feature a lot of face paint and theatrical makeup. Most of the makeup for the face is pale white to give a ghostly appearance.
Around the eyes are usually done in black to give the sunken in appearance of the dead. Makeup lends just the right touch to make a spooky look come to life.
