Goth Jewelry – Gothic Jewelry Styles

The majority of goth jewelry is silver or pewter and contains a dark or religious symbol of some sort. It is worn in the forms of necklaces, chokers, earrings, bracelets, rings, watches, wristbands, hair accessories, and body jewelry.

Gothic necklaces are often chains, black cords or silver shot beads and usually have a dangling pendant or charm.

While many stereotypes about goths suggest that they are satanists or worshipers of the devil, the most common pendants are of the Christian cross, Wiccan pentacle, Egyptian ankh, and the Celtic cross. This does not mean that all goths are religious, some are and some just like the look of religious symbols.

Other common gothic pendants include the iron cross, Celtic axe, the tribal phoenix, pentagrams, skulls and crossbones, wings, daggers, vampires, snakes, roses, flames, and the Merkaba.

Chokers are similar to necklaces but fight snugly around the neck. Gothic chokers are usually black or silver. Dog collars and chokers that have spikes are widely popular. Some other types are bead chokers, crocheted chokers, and dangling bondage rings.

Earrings can be vary from studs with spiders, bats, stars or crosses to giant rods and spikes. Some even use chains to connect an ear piercing with another facial or body piercing.

Goth jewelry bracelets feature large kinds that cover a wide portion of the wrist, chains, and smaller kinds which lend room for extra bracelets to be worn. Most often the symbols are of skulls, thorns and pentagrams.

Like necklaces, rings are used frequently by goths. They are normally very thick and can be spotted easily on the wearer’s fingers. The rings almost always have a very large visible symbol but rarely contain precious stones. Some types of rings are made to cover an entire finger. Goths usually wear lots of rings.

Goth jewelry for body piercings is common amongst the gothic community. Some of this includes silver eyebrow barbells featuring Celtic knots, bats and spikes, silver dragon and spider tongue rings, labret and lip rings as well as many unusual pieces of jewelry like silver bars for collar bone piercings.
