What Makes Goth Shoes Different?

Goth shoes are part of what makes up the gothic style. These can add just the right touch to any outfit worn by the gothic subculture.

Available in a large assortment of styles and brands, there are plenty of options to suit any goth’s needs. Most of the shoes are made from either canvas, leather or rubber. Some popular varieties include heels, platforms, steel toes, low and high top sneakers and creepers.

Many brands are recognized for their contributions to the gothic footwear industry. Some famous brands are Converse, Ben Sherman, T.U.K., Punkrose, Lucky 13, Draven Streetwear, Demonia, Vans, Pleaser, Vision Street Wear, Mary Jane and Cupcake Cult.

Styles of sneakers and goth shoes vary by brand. Slip on shoes by brands like Vans, Punkrose, Converse and T.U.K. have no laces and are made out of canvas, a tightly woven heavy cloth. Plaid and mixed colors are usually on the tops and sides.

Mary Jane has a huge line of flats which have a flat heel or no heel at all. Platform shoes have a thick heel designed to add height. Creepers are a type of platform shoe that usually has vertical grooves on its heel and a wide top with very little lacing.

Skimmers made by T.U. K. are similar to the creeper but they are made from softer materials and do not have a platform sole. Bondage strap sneakers are uniquely designed with straps that chain onto the back of the heel.

Converse All Stars, also known as Chuck Taylors, have been a staple of punk rock fashion since the late 1970s and have been adapted by the goth, emo, and modern hip hop subcultures.
